Two centuries ago, the Italian anatomist Paolo Mascagni discovered the meningeal lymphatic vessels (MLVs). However, only in 2015, his results were confirmed, when Jonathan Kipnis and his team found the golden key in the MLVs research, proving that markers of peripheral lymphatics are applicable to MLVs. This gave impetus to the study of the morphology and functions of MLVs. There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating an important role of MLVs as tunnels for the night removal of metabolites and toxins from sleeping brain, which may be a revolution step in neurorehabilitation medicine. The main intention of this interdisciplinary school is to discuss recent and future development of methods for stimulation of MLVs from various perspectives including neuroscience, complexity science and nonlinear optics

We cordially invite you to participate at the 1st Winter On-Line School, which covers the following topics that includes (but is not limited to):

  • Optical technologies for the study of MLVs functions
  • Photosyimulation of MLVs
  • Sleep and Brain Drainage
  • EEG markers of BBB
  • MLVs and Brain Diseases
  • MLVs and Complex Systems
  • Multi-disciplinary approaches 
  • Modeling of brain drainage

Due to the schools´ highly interdisciplinary character, the lectures will mainly provide a general introduction into the different topics, but will also give recent and future directions.
